Licei – Discover Bansky’s exhibition

On Tuesday 18th March my class (2K), together with the students of 2B and 2A, and accompanied by our English and Art teachers, went to visit Banksy’s exhibition “A visual protest”, staged at MUDEC (The museum of cultures of Milan) .

The idea of visiting the exhibition has been developed after a work of analysis of the deep meaning of some of the most famous works by Banksy (such as Balloon girl, Sweep it under the carpet, Shop until you drop and Rage, flower thrower).

Before entering the museum Prof. Salvato introduced the historical context of Banksy’s work: he said that street art, Banksy’s art movement, has developed at the end of the 20th century as a form of art that everyone can create and with a visual message attainable by everyone. In the exhibition there were more or less a hundred works mainly by Banksy. Because of the quantity of art pieces we didn’t have any guide and this was probably the only drawback of the experience. Reading every caption was demanding, but essential to give a sense to the work. All in all this experience was really interesting and provocative.
